Building a wastewater treatment plant into a container has many advantages:
It's movable
The installation time is halved - plug & play
It extends the lifespan of the plant by protecting it from UV sunlight
Improved aesthetics as the bioreactors are 'hidden' inside
This system at Eastplats mine in Rustenburg, South Africa, was manufactured in 3 weeks and installed in 5 days. It consists of 5 x 8,5kL bioreactors, a 5kL clarifier, and a 5kL contact tank.
It will take approximately 10 days for the bacteria to colonise the media in the reactors and form the biofilm that will 'eat' the nutrients in the effluent, then we'll be back on site to do the final commissioning and handover.
